Ooops, my bad! Didn’t want anyone to get nervous there! ๐
In the last two weeks, we attended Christmas parties and I had a lot of wheat and last weekend my joints were hurting so bad that we decided to bite bullet and start turning out household gluten free.
I have officially been gluten free for a week now [might have gotten traces, still working on looking at labels, but the obvious are taken out]… and it’s all good! Lot’s a Greek salads, soups, homemade pizza and chocolate! ๐ We have started turning our cupboards gluten free. We have bought corn flour, potato flour, gluten free pancake mix etc! We did some Christmas baking using our brand new gluten free cook book: You Won’t Believe it’s Gluten-Free!. We made sugar cookies and chocolate chip cookies – they turned out pretty fragile but tasted just fine!
Yesterday was hubby’s birthday so we went to eat at Red Robin and they had a gluten free menu! I had their gourmet burger wrapped in lettuce! I was suspicious and a tad hesitant, but I got to say, it was not TOO bad! It was pretty a O K!
So, the world is not coming to an end! All is well and hopefully this will make a BIG difference health wise!
Hope you have had a wonderful, peaceful Christmas, celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord!
Merrily yours, Kat
ps. the big disappointments: I love Finnish PANDA natural licorice [that you can get from the organic section at your grocery store] and it has wheat in it. ๐ฆ Also, there is a Swedish Christmas soda called Julmust [you can get it from IKEA] and it’s made out of hops and barley! Waaah…. oh well…
Lovies, any recipes, ideas for substitutions appreciated! Thanks…
My dad is Celiac so I will round up some recipes for you, sweetie. Life doesn’t need to end just because you’re going gluten-free … they even make gluten free beer these days!! LOL I will see what I can find! I love you and I think you’re awesome!
Thank you so much, Nicky! I feel fortunate not to have celiacs, that when things have gone really far. You rock! Love… Lol about the beer!
I’m surprised that Red Robbins would have a burger like that! Looks delicious!
Yeah, I was too… When I got the burger came I was a tad skeptical… First half of the burger was amazing, then it got “drippy” and I had to eat the rest with utensils… But all in all a pretty good alternative! I’m glad…
Haha! Jul must, how we miss you already! Half a case still sitting in the garage! Noooooooooo……
Mmmmmmmust!
I’m glad your adjustment is going well. I sent you a yummy chocolate bread recipe I think (if I didn’t let me know and I will). That burger looks yummy. Chili’s has a gf menu also.
Hey, Lori! I haven’t gotten it yet. Try again or put it right here! THANKS, Girl!
That was an amazing looking sandwich!
With Sweet Potato Fries!!!
